Rachael Lee exhibition Through the Portrait: Stories Beneath the Surface, Forest Arts New Milton




RINGWOOD-based artist Rachael Lee is set to launch a solo exhibition at Forest Arts New Milton this weekend.

Entitled Through the Portrait: Stories Beneath the Surface, the show will be on display until Wednesday 28th May. Rachael will be launching her exhibition and chatting to visitors at 4.30pm on Saturday 5th April.

Rachael said: “In this exhibition, I have revisited and reclaimed the narratives of my life through the evocative use of painted and sewn surfaces. I reflect on a childhood shaped by both love and neglect, unravelling the intricate complexities of familial relationships.”

Through these expressive works of art, Rachael intertwines the emotions of her past with her identity as an LGBTQ+ artist living with a disability. The result is a deeply personal and heartfelt exploration of resilience and connection. She will be at Forest Arts every Friday from 10am to 1pm for the duration of the exhibition,

Rachael is an accomplished artist and educator with a rich background in fine art. In September she is set to embark on an MA in painting at Arts University, Bournemouth.

She has participated in artist residencies and exhibited her work both in the UK and internationally, gaining insights into diverse cultural contexts. Her journey has created opportunities to collaborate with artists worldwide, shaping her unique style.

Rachael strongly believes that sharing the process of making art and engaging in creativity is a wonderful way to connect with others. Her dedication to the therapeutic potential of art is demonstrated through her work with individuals from various backgrounds, including offenders, adults, and young people with additional educational needs.
