Go New Forest to host second careers fair at Balmer Lawn Hotel in Brockenhurst
THOSE looking for jobs in the New Forest’s hospitality industry can see what’s available at a free careers event next week.
The second Go New Forest careers fair will be held on Tuesday 16th May at Balmer Lawn Hotel in Brockenhurst, 1pm to 6pm.
A Go New Forest spokesperson said: “From world-class attractions to top-rated hotels and spas, there’s a wealth of working opportunities for those about to enter the world of work, have already started a career and keen to progress, or looking at a mid-life switch.
“The fair will showcase job openings from entry level right up to management; for seasoned professionals to those looking to get their first step on the tourism or hospitality ladder.
“Visitors to the fair will have the chance to chat face-to-face with representatives from our award-winning local businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, holiday parks, attractions, activities etc.”
For those keen to start their training in the industry, representatives from Brockenhurst College will be on hand to guide them through the various courses and routes available.
As previously reported in the A&T, the area’s hospitality industry has suffered in the wake of the Covid epidemic, with hotels 20% down on staff and tourism 17%.
One hotels group representative described it as a “perfect storm” battling supply chain issues, wedding backlogs, the loss of European workers from Brexit and the pandemic.
