Fallen tree causes hours of disruption for South Western Railway train services between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth




RAIL passengers face disruption over the next few hours after a tree blocked the line between Brockenhurst and Bournemouth this morning (Thursday).

South Western Railway has warned trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised, having been alerted around 11.30am to the issue.

It was cleared and all lines reopened by 12.15pm, but disruption is expected to continue until 5pm.

Train tickets are being accepted on Bluestar bus routes 8, 9, 11 and 12 between Southampton and Totton, as well as 6 between Southampton and Lymington.

Passengers can also use Morebus services X1 and X2 between Lymington and Bournemouth, 120 between New Milton and Lymington, 119 between New Milton and Lymington; and 1A, 1B and 1C between Bournemouth and Christchurch.

Tickets are also being accepted on Morebus routes 33 between Bournemouth and Christchurch, M1 and M2 between Bournemouth and Poole; and 16 and 17 between Bournemouth and Poole

An SWR spokesperson said: “For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.

Those preferring to use local buses to continue their journey should check traveline.info

SWR tickets are not valid on local buses unless stated above.
