Oakhaven Hospice’s family fun day at its Lower Pennington Lane site raises more than £20,000

ATTRACTIONS including bubble shows, inflatables and a classic car display have helped raise more than £20,000 at the annual Oakhaven family fun day.

Held in the grounds of the Lower Pennington Lane facility, the family fun day was supported by residents from across the New Forest and Waterside with over 1,000 people attending.

The summer fundraiser had something for all including classic car displays, an animal farm, a bubble show, games, raffles, tombolas, inflatable fun and plenty of pre-loved treasures in the pop-up shop and bric-a-brac alley.

Oakhaven’s head of fundraising Melanie Stone said: “We would like to thank everyone who came along to our family fun day. It was great to see so many families enjoying a traditional summer fair in the sunshine. Many thanks to everyone who donated or baked items for us to sell or use as prizes.”

It costs £8m each year to fund Oakhaven’s services but only 11% of the facility’s funding is covered by the NHS, with the remaining 89% raised from donations, fundraising, gifts in wills and income from the Oakhaven charity shops and social enterprise Oakhaven Care Ltd.
