Paul James of Fawley avoids prison after attacking police officers




A FAWLEY man avoided going to prison despite attacking two police officers while on a suspended sentence for drink-driving.

Paul James (60), of Heather Road, initially denied assaulting the constables and a woman by beating but changed his plea at Southampton Magistrates' Court.

He admitted breaching a 12-month suspended sentence of 16 weeks' jail, but rather than send him down the Bench extended the suspension to 18 months.

James was handed a two-year community order, fined £120 and told to pay £175 in court charges.
