A FAWLEY man avoided going to prison despite attacking two police officers while on a suspended sentence for drink-driving.
Paul James (60), of Heather Road, initially denied assaulting the constables and a woman by beating but changed his plea at Southampton Magistrates' Court.
He admitted breaching a 12-month suspended sentence of 16 weeks' jail, but rather than send him down the Bench extended the suspension to 18 months.
James was handed a two-year community order, fined £120 and told to pay £175 in court charges.
