ExxonMobil at Fawley donates almost £5,000 to local organisations to help spread festive cheer

GOOD causes on the Waterside have been helped to spread some Christmas cheer with donations of almost £5,000.

ExxonMobil, which runs the Fawley oil refinery, gave cash to Fawley Parish Council which it used to buy battery-powered LED lights for the Christmas tree in Blackfield.

Other funds went to the Fawley Events Committee which spent it on new banners and publicity for the Village Yuletide Christmas Fayre.

The Handy Trust will use its donation to hold a Christmas party for local children in Netley View with the money going towards food, activities and decorations as well as a gift for each child.

The donation will also go towards the Waterside Christmas Appeal which supports local families in need to buy presents and food.

The Waterside Christmas Fire Engine, which for 40 years has been driving round the local area each year to spread cheer, received a donation towards a new generator to power its lights.

ExxonMobil has also donated 3,000 selection boxes which are given out to youngsters along the fire engine’s route between Marchwood and Calshot until 23rd December.

ExxonMobil external affairs manager Stuart Neill said: "Everyone is feeling the pinch this Christmas so if we can help to spread a little festive cheer among our communities around the Fawley site then we are happy to be able to do so."
