LYMINGTON TOWN had an encouraging home win against Andover New Street on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Andover NS took the lead through Callum Sweeney within 60 seconds at the start of the second period. A free-kick was cleared back to kicker Sweeney and his second tame shot ended up in the net.

Lymington quickly regrouped and drove forward with Elliott Cross winning a free-kick wide on the left. Mike Gosney chipped in a neat set piece into the crowded area and Jake King launched himself at the ball and nodded in the equaliser.

After a series of bookings and stoppages Lymington introduced Nick Watts, who has been out injured for several months since signing earlier this season. He quickly repaid his manager’s faith with a great cross into the danger area that Gosney drove home for a 2-1 lead.

Town sealed the win with the last kick of the game when King outpaced the Andover defence and fired home the Lymington third.

Lymington make the short trip up the road to Brockenhurst for a derby game this Saturday.

Lymington Town: Newman, Fuller, Manuel, Pickett, Ansell, Cross, Hennen, Ritchie, King, Ross Gosney. Subs: Watts.
