Sydenhams Wessex Premier: Lymington Town 1-1 Bemerton Heath Harlequins

Micky Finch's late free-kick rescued a point on the last day of the Sydenhams Premier season as Lymington Town drew 1-1 with Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Before the game, Lymington Town and Lymington Sprites announced that both clubs would be amalgamating into one singular club for the community. The merger will bring together both clubs under the name Lymington Town FC and will include youth teams from Under 6's to Under 18's, Senior and Veterans teams and will come into effect next season.

A quiet first half saw very little goal scoring opportunities. The best was a shot on the turn from Town striker Ashley Jarvis that skimmed the far post.

The deadlock was broken in the second half as Harry Rogers claimed his first goal in senior football for Bemerton with his shot scrambling over the line past keeper Nic Jones.

As the visitors looked to slow down the pace of the game, Lymington struggled to muster any clear-cut chances.

However, with five minutes to play, Finch stepped up to a free-kick and whipped it past the stranded Bemerton keeper into the near corner to gift Lymington a point in a tightly contested game.

Lymington finish the season tenth in the Wessex Premier division and will to build upon that in the next campaign.

Lymington Town: Jones, Davies, Manuel, Cross, Fuller, Frost, Jarvis, Hennen, King, Ross, Finch. Subs used: Tate.
