Police probe car fire at Holmsley Car Park, near Burley




POLICE have launched a probe into an early-hours blaze which gutted a car at a New Forest beauty spot near Burley.

The alarm was raised shortly after 4.30am on Monday when officers patrolling the area around Holmsley Inclosure discovered the abandoned vehicle in flames at Holmsley car park.

Firefighters from Burley spent about 50 minutes battling the emergency at the site, off Holmsley Passage, by which time the silver Suzuki Wagon was destroyed.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said the matter was under investigation.

In Christchurch, a local fire crew had to extinguish flames engulfing the engine of a car on the driveway of an address in Meredith Close.

Called out around 2.15pm last Friday, they contained the emergency within 15 minutes.
