Firefighters from Hampshire and Dorset battle blaze at house under construction in Vereley, Burley




FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze at a house under construction in Burley last night (Thursday).

Multiple crews responded to a call-out just before 8pm reporting flames were engulfing the structure in the Vereley area.

Around 9pm, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service stated: “We are tackling a fire in Vereley, Burley, at present.

“We are requesting that members of the public avoid travelling to the area, to allow access for emergency vehicles.”

After the crews from Burley, Ringwood, Fordingbridge and Dorset had been tackling the fire for nearly two hours, it was said to be “under control”.

It was finally extinguished shortly after 11.30pm, but HIWFRS said personnel would remain for some time to monitor and dampen down.

A spokesperson added: “The cause of the fire is currently unknown.”
