Five-run win for Burley CC in Forest midweek final
New Forest Midweek Cricket League final
Burley CC 153
Ringwood CC 148
BURLEY CC beat Ringwood CC by just five runs to win the inaugural New Forest Midweek Cricket League.
Ellingham CC first proposed the idea after the Hampshire Cricket League cancelled the end of the season due to the coronavirus.
To contest the final, Burley and Ringwood finished in the top two of the newly-formed league.
Burley started brightly, posting a competitive score of 153. However, Ringwood appeared to be cruising after poor fielding and five no-balls took Ringwood to the edge of victory.
Just as all appeared lost with Ringwood needing only eight runs with two overs left, Callum Preedy-Maher came on to bowl, conceding just three runs to secure the win for his side.
