Flood risk amid Met Office yellow weather warning of heavy rain for New Forest and Christchurch
SOME homes and businesses could flood, the Met Office has said amid a yellow warning of rain covering the New Forest and Christchurch.
The alert states that rain, heavy at times, is set to hit the area from 6pm tonight (Tuesday) until 10am tomorrow morning.
Although 15-25mm of rain is widely expected, as much as 50-60mm could fall across east Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey and west Kent.
As well as the potential flooding risk, bus and train services could be delayed, while spray and flooding on roads could make journeys take longer.
“Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely,” the Met Office warning said.
“Scattered showers will become more frequent and increasingly organised into a longer spell of rain through Tuesday evening before gradually clearing eastward during Wednesday morning.”
