Flower festival takes root with second fundraising weekend

CHRISTCHURCH flower festival will make the town awash with colours and pleasing aromas this weekend as the second annual FlowerFest takes root.

The blooming lovely event includes a trail around the Priory grounds with many local business getting involved with window and shop displays.

FlowerFest19, held from today (Friday) until Sunday, is supporting the Macmillan Unit’s Brick by Brick appeal to help raise the money needed to build a new Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital.

The Regent Centre will have a variety of floral displays on show to get the senses buzzing. They will also be holding a raffle in aid of the Macmillan appeal - prizes include tickets to see many of the films and shows held over the coming months and many other prizes.

Tickets for the raffle can be purchased from the Regent’s information centre and the draw will take place on Friday 21st June at 3pm.

The Red House Museum will be hosting various workshops and demonstrations set in its garden and tea room.

There will also be awards presented for the best floral installation and the best window display. Last year’s winners were Jimmy's Iced Coffee and Roberta Boutiques of Christchurch.
