Flurry of podiums for Lymington Triathlon Club Chilly Hilly runners
A HARDY bunch from Lymington Triathlon Club hopped on the ferry to take on the annual challenge of the Chilly Hilly — 10 miles running over the hills of the Isle of Wight, taking in spectacular views.
A flurry of podium positions were secured by the Lymington contingent. Paul Russhard crossed the line in second spot in 1 hour 05 minutes, he was also second in his category. Keeping it in the family, LTC club captain Gemma Russhard (1:12) was second lady and first in category.
Lymington’s Nicola Kelly (1:16) was second in her age category, Mike Turner (1:17) third in category, Katrina Turner (1:52) second in category and Derek Lee (1:57) was first in his over 70 category.
Other results: Conrad Kelly 1:15; Guy Pumphrey 1:32; Matthew Brearley, 1:32; Susie Jacob 1:40; Phill Brown 1:52; Jess Fitzwarren 1:54; Sandra Tyler 2:02.
Derek Lee, who won the V70 prize, was full of praise for the organisers, he said: “It’s a tremendous event. The folk at the sports and community centre at Freshwater were very welcoming. The thought of mince pies and mulled wine at the finish line were a big incentive for me!”
Gemma Russhard, club running captain, was equally positive: “It was such a fun day out. Well done to all participants. I think everyone finished with a smile; all races should be that fun! I was impressed with the representation from LTC.”
New members to the Lymington Tri Club are always welcomed. Cost is £15 per year. To find out more log on to www.lymingtontriathlonclub.com
