Foal season warning as eight speeders stopped in crackdown on B3078 Roger Penny Way in the New Forest
EIGHT speeders were stopped in another police crackdown on a notorious New Forest animal accident blackspot amid warnings over foal season.
Officers stationed themselves at Bramble Hill Walk, along the B3078 Roger Penny Way, between Bramshaw and Fordingbridge, yesterday (Thursday) evening as part of multi-agency Operation Mountie.
Pulling over eight motorists exceeding 40mph during two hours, they handed tickets to two of them who were clocked at 55mph and 51mph.
The other six were issued advice by representatives of Forestry England, the New Forest National Park Authority and campaign group New Forest Roads Awareness.
A police Facebook post afterwards shared one photo taken at the scene to highlight the dangers of speeding on Forest routes.
“The donkey in one of the photos is heavily pregnant and as you can see is right at the side of the road,” the post said.
“This is foal season in the Forest and even more reason for us all to slow down and pass wide and slow.
“Thanks again to everyone who did stick to the speed limit – we really appreciate it.”
