Careys Manor and Sen Spa in Brockenhurst, owned by Greenclose Hotels Ltd, to be sold to India-based SanRaj Family Ventures, founded by brothers Sandip and Rajdip Gupta
A LONG-standing New Forest hotel is set to change hands after an approach by an India-based firm.
Careys Manor and Sen Spa in Brockenhurst, owned by Greenclose Hotels Ltd – which also runs the Montagu Arms in Beaulieu – will become part of Myst Hotels and Resorts Ltd.
Parent company SanRaj Family Ventures, which was founded in 2009 by brothers Sandip and Rajdip Gupta, operates three hotels in their country: two in Goa and one at Mumbai airport.
Staff have been consulted, but it’s understood no redundancies are planned, and the intention is to continue running the hotel “in a similar way”.
While the hotel had not been officially on the market, the owners decided it was an “appropriate time” to sell following the approach. Greenclose Hotels will retain the Montagu Arms.
Greenclose Hotels’ managing director is James Hiley-Jones.
Careys Manor and SanRaj have been approached for comment.
The site of Careys Manor was part of royal hunting ground ‘Nova Foresta’ established in 1079 by William The Conqueror.
The original house was situated in what is now the grounds of Brockenhurst College, but was demolished, with the present manor built in 1888.
