Police re-arrest Totton man on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice after incident on Netherton Road, near Hurstbourne Tarrant




A TOTTON man has been re-arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was struck by a car while confronting suspected poachers.

Detectives investigating the incident near Hurstbourne Tarrant, on the night of Thursday 24th October last year, also detained the 37-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

He had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and then released on bail.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said the fresh arrest was after further evidence emerged.

As well as this, a 60-year-old woman, also from Totton, has now been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

As reported by the A&T, the victim, who is in his 50s, tried to confront suspected poachers on Netherton Road around 11.10pm after spotting them in a field.

The force spokesperson said: “The men reportedly got into a vehicle, which then struck the victim. The vehicle was then driven from the scene.

“The man was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries but has since been discharged.”

The arrested pair have been released on bail as enquiries continue.
