Disruption continuing after rail track circuit failure between Brockenhurst and Beaulieu Road, warns South Western Railway
THE impact of a track circuit failure which caused severe disruption for New Forest rail passengers yesterday (Wednesday) is continuing this morning.
As reported by the A&T, the fault between Brockenhurst and Beaulieu Road left South Western Railway services having to travel at reduced speeds on the line towards Southampton.
SWR warned that trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 15 minutes or changed throughout the day.
Although the issue had been resolved this morning and all lines reopened, it said there could be further cancellations and revisions until 11am today.
The travel service attributed this to “the late notice rectification of this problem”.
Passenger tickets continue to be accepted on CrossCountry services between Southampton and Bournemouth in both directions.
They can also be used on Bluestar buses 8, 9, 11 and 12 between Southampton and Totton, as well as 6 between Southampton and Lymington.
Morebus is also accepting tickets on services X1 and X2 between Lymington and Bournemouth, 120 between New Milton and Lymington, 119 between New Milton and Lymington, the 1A, 1B and 1C services between Bournemouth and Christchurch; and 33 between Bournemouth and Christchurch.
Those preferring to use local buses to continue their journey should check traveline.info although SWR tickets are not accepted unless stated above.
