Totton based Southampton Freight Services buys out EXPD International




A TOTTON freight company says it is taking the next step towards securing its future growth after buying out a courier business.

Family-owned Southampton Freight Services (SFS) has purchased EXPD International, which employs eight people at its HQ in Hedge End, near Southampton.

A spokesperson for SFS, which employs 50 people and was established 25 years ago, said the acquisition will “enhance and expand” its global freight forwarding and logistics services.

SFS managing director Ross Negus said: “This acquisition is wonderful news for all our customers and employees and we’re delighted to welcome the EXPD team to our work family.

“It means we’re adding yet more expertise to our portfolio of global logistics services, with an even wider range of courier products, expanding the choice for customers of both businesses. It’s a perfect cultural fit.”

EXPD has 20 years of experience as a freight forwarding and logistics company operating across Hampshire, Dorset and West Sussex. EXPD has an established a strategic network of more than 200 brokerage and freight forwarding agencies.

Following SFS’s acquisition, former EXPD shareholder and managing director Steve James will provide consultancy services during a transitional period.
