Hunt for flytippers after pile including furniture and children's play equipment dumped in Minstead

POLICE are investigating a pile of furniture and play equipment found dumped on a New Forest road yesterday (Monday) morning.

Minstead Parish Council raised the alarm after the waste was discovered along the C17 in the village, towards Emery Down.

A picture of the pile, which includes chairs, a bicycle, a pushchair and inflatable play apparatus, was shared by the council on Facebook.

“Please can you look at the contents of this flytip to see if you recognise anything that could indicate where it originated,” the post said.

“This may help the police to track down who was tasked to take it away.”

The incident followed a police flytipping crackdown at Netley Marsh last Friday.

Joining forces with New Forest District Council and Forestry England, officers stopped 35 vehicles in Southampton Road over an hour-and-a-half.

Checks were carried out to ensure all drivers had the correct paperwork, including a waste carrier’s licence.

“Removing rubbish dumped across the New Forest costs New Forest District Council and Forestry England tens of thousands of pounds a year,” a police Facebook post said afterwards.

“If you ever see anyone dumping rubbish in the Forest let us know immediately.”

Anyone with information about the C17 flytip should email richard.williams@hampshire.police.uk or call 101. Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
