GALLERY: Festive spirit in full swing for Christchurch Christmas 10k race

MORE than 600 runners got into the festive spirit on Sunday as they took part in the annual Christchurch Christmas 10k event organised by Christchurch Runners.

Following on from their successful event last year, the race was once again a sell-out with hundreds of runners taking to the Burton and Christchurch area in Christmas outfits for charity. Each runner who completed the course was rewarded with a Christmas pudding.

Bournemouth AC’s Robert Spencer was fastest over the line in 32 minutes and five seconds. Poole AC’s Chris Alborough finished in second place as he clocked 33:24, and third was Lee Dempster from Lytchett Manor Striders who finished in 33:28.

Diana Leggott of Lonely Goats RC was the fastest female to cross the finish in 40:50. Lymington Triathlon Club’s Chloe Woolf came in second with a time of 41:14 while Team Bath Athletics Club’s Emily Hilliar claimed third in 41:58.
