Lyndhurst among areas hosting Hampshire police and Crimestoppers drive to catch most wanted offenders

LYNDHURST is among areas hosting a joint police and Crimestoppers campaign to trace Hampshire’s most wanted, as the chief warns offenders: “We’re coming for you.”

Tomorrow (Wednesday) Crimestoppers will be visiting the village centre between 8.30am and 4.30pm with digital advertising vans displaying the names and photos of most wanted individuals for people to see.

This coincides with the launch, between the charity and the force, of a Most Wanted gallery of 29 people who have been charged with offences and failed to appear at court.

They are wanted for a variety of alleged crimes, including serious assault, drugs supply, serious injury driving offences and community order breaches. All have warrants for their re-arrest, which do not expire.

Chief Constable Scott Chilton called on the public to anonymously report any information to help bring them back before the criminal justice system.

Officers and Crimestoppers staff are engaging with people in a bid to obtain vital information on the offenders’ whereabouts. They are also passing on general crime prevention and community safety advice.

Mr Chilton said: “Those in this campaign have already been charged by police for a variety of offences including assault, burglary, drugs and serious driving offences.

“We believe they are in our local area, and that someone will know where they are or have the information we need to ensure they are re-arrested.”

“We will be using all our powers and tactics to pursue them and the information and intelligence we get from this campaign is part of that.

“Our message is simple: if you see your face on here, hand yourself in. We will not give up and if you are on this list it means we’re not far behind you.”

He added: “It is important that communities have confidence that we relentlessly pursue such individuals, and today is hopefully seen as further evidence of that.”

Crimestoppers has reported a high success level since first launching the UK's Most Wanted in 2005, with over 5,000 arrests to date.

People are urged to visit Crimestoppers-uk.org/most-wanted and scroll down to select the Hampshire & IoW region.

Those who recognise any of the suspects and have information on their potential whereabouts can report this anonymously online at crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.

Beth Simpson, the charity’s regional manager in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said: “You are the one that can make all the difference – and you can speak up anonymously, without fear of reprisal or anyone knowing that you spoke out.”

The campaign includes nine offenders being sought in the west of the county. They are listed below, along with reference numbers for people with any information to quote.
