Hat-trick from Pye charts route to victory for Lyndhurst
Hampshire Premier League: Sway FC 1-4 Lyndhurst FC
CHRIS Pye grabbed a first-half hat-trick for Lyndhurst as they brushed aside Sway 4-1 in their New Forest derby at Jubilee Fields.
The visitors got off to a flying start when Pye found the back of the net within five minutes. Sway managed to find their feet after the goal and went on the attack for an equaliser. However, the hosts were caught on the break on the half-hour mark when Pye struck again to double Lyndhurst's advantage.
Striker Pye nearly grabbed his third when Ben Cook sent him barrelling through on goal, but Sway keeper Nicolas Charalambous stood firm to make a fantastic save.
Lyndhurst seemingly sealed the game on the stroke of half-time when Cook lofted a ball into the area which was finished by Pye for his hat-trick and a 3-0 lead going into the break.
After the interval, Sway reduced the deficit when centre-back Will Lambert scored on 47 minutes. Sway were unable to add to their early second-half goal and with minutes to play Richardson Tonigho put the game out of sight when he claimed Lyndhurst’s final goal of the game to make it 4-1.
With the victory, Lyndhurst leapfrog their local rivals into 11th place with 20 points from 19 games and Sway sit one place below them.
Sway host unbeaten league-leaders Infinity tomorrow while Lyndhurst play Bush Hill.
