Heatwave to give way to heavy rain and thunder over weekend for New Forest and Christchurch residents

THE weekend weather for New Forest and Christchurch is about to take a sharp turn from the current heatwave, with warnings of heavy rain and thundery showers.

Fresh from its first-ever amber warning for heat this week, the Met Office today (Wednesday) has announced that across both Saturday and Sunday, residents can expect a thoroughly wet time.

The weather agency slapped a yellow warning across the two days for heavy rain and thundery showers, with flooding and transport issues also predicted.

Trains and buses may be cancelled or delayed, some communities could be cut off by floodwater, and power cuts are possible.

It's expected to last from early Saturday morning right through to Sunday evening.
