Yellow heavy rain alert from Met Office for parts of New Forest

A heavy rain alert has been issued for part of the New Forest later today.

The Met Office yellow warning covers the eastern part of the Forest and warns of travel disruption, spray and flooding on roads, with possible power cuts and a small chance of flooding to homes and businesses.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “A spell of rain, heavy at times, will affect the area later Wednesday afternoon and into the early hours of Thursday.

“Fifteen to 20mm could fall within an hour in places with as much as 30 to 40mm over two to three hours. This may lead to some travel disruption, especially during the busy evening travel period.”

The warning is in place from 4pm to 3am tomorrow
