Heavy rain warning for New Forest and Christchurch

A WEATHER alert for heavy rain has been issued for the New Forest and Christchurch today (Monday).

Thunderstorms and torrential downpours are expected across the south, with predictions of 20-30mm of rain over the course of an hour and more than 60mm in some areas over two to three hours, according to the Met Office's yellow warning.

This could lead to flooding, delays and cancellations to train and bus services, spray on the roads and power cuts, it said.

The alert lasts until midnight.
