HORSE riders can find out how to keep safe and protect themselves from crime at a Hampshire Police event in Lyndhurst on Thursday evening.

As well as a tack marking service, the free road show will introduce visitors to ways of reducing security risks at rural and equestrian premises, and tips to keep riding property secure.

The police’s Country Watch team will be there alongside representatives from the British Horse Society (BHS) explaining the group’s work on road safety, drones, dog attacks and fireworks

Cycling UK will also be on hand to show how it cooperates with the BHS to protect vulnerable road users and improve safety on shared trails.

Stands at the event will be run by the national park authority, Forestry Commission, New Forest Equestrian Association, the RAF Safety Centre, and Hampshire Police’s mounted rural patrol team.

The event will be in the Linden Hall of Lyndhurst community centre from 6.30pm-9.30pm, with free parking after 6pm.
