Holbury man Kane Bowyer up for crown court trial over alleged stabbing in Wimborne




A HOLBURY man is due to face crown court trial accused of attempted murder and possessing a machete in connection with an alleged stabbing in Wimborne.

Kane Bowyer (18) was charged after police responded to reports a man was knifed at an address in the Leigh Gardens area around 9.50pm on Sunday 26th February.

A casualty in his 50s was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds, which were believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

As well as attempted murder, Bowyer, of The Millpond, has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

During a hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, the defendant was remanded in custody to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 30th March.

Initial enquiries into the alleged attack resulted in police arresting a 15-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man, both from Wimborne, on suspicion of attempted murder. They were later released on bail.

A 35-year-old Fordingbridge man and an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Wimborne, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and also bailed.

A 38-year-old Wimborne woman arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice has been bailed too.
