Holiday parks boss Rosie hitting heights with wingwalk

THE sky will be the limit for the chair of Hoburne Holiday Parks when she takes on a wing-walk for charity.

Rosie Kennar will be joined by colleague Jimmy Everingham as part of the Christchurch firm’s fundraising efforts for Dorset-based Diverse Abilities, which it has been supporting for two years.

Rosie said: “My friends and family think I have lost my mind – I am feeling slightly apprehensive, but it’s for a worthwhile cause.”

The pandemic meant the Hoburne team has been unable to carry out its normal fundraising activities, so Rosie and Jimmy have found an exciting challenge to push them out of their comfort zone but keep to social distancing.

Having already surpassed their £3,000 target, they are now aiming for £5,000 from the event which will be on Sunday at Compton Abbas Airfield.

Rosie said that having to cancel fundraisers meant they must “make up for this lost time and hope to raise as much as possible”.

She added: “We appreciate that these are difficult times in which to ask for financial support, but the wonderful team at Diverse Abilities is battling on as ever to provide a much-needed service.

“We are so grateful for every single donation and know that it will make a huge difference.”

connected with families it supports during lockdown by providing remote support, said fundraising manager Emma Bovey.

She added: “Meanwhile our children’s respite home and school remained open to support families in desperate need of assistance, as well as providing 24/7 care for the adults we support at home.

“The fundraising from the team at Hoburne will enable us to continue delivering the best care and support for people with profound disabilities throughout Dorset.”
