Christchurch home caring service Homelium rated ‘good’ in first CQC inspection

A HOME care service based in Christchurch has received a glowing report in its first assessment by the Care Quality Commission with a ‘good’ rating for all aspects.

Homelium Dorset, run by Homelium Care Ltd and based on the Aviation Business Park, provides care and support to people in their own homes. It had 70 clients at the time of the assessment between 24th and 31st January.

Led by manager Alison Dawn French, the service cares for adults of all ages, including those with dementia and disabilities.

In its report on the first assessment since the business’s registration, the CQC said: “Staff were kind and caring, treating people with dignity and respect, and were passionate about their role.”

It went on: “Recruitment and induction procedures were robust and there were enough staff. A blended training programme meant staff had the necessary skills and knowledge to provide care.”

Inspectors said people received their medications as prescribed, safeguarding procedures were in place, and that service users were involved in making decisions about their care.

The report added: “Relatives told us their loved ones were happy with their visits from staff.

“People were involved in their care from the start and this included regular reviews and the freedom to amend visits to suit their lives.”
