Southern Water blames technical issue at its Testwood water supply site in Totton for outage
A TECHNICAL fault has left homes, schools and businesses in parts of the New Forest without water.
Southern Water says the issues at the Testwood water supply site in Totton, which was identified last night (Tuesday), means water is not leaving the site. Residents in Totton, Calmore, Lyndhurst and the Waterside are believed to be affected.
Hampshire County Council confirmed some schools had been forced to close, including New Forest Academy, Noadswood School and Cadland Primary School in Holbury, Wildground infant and junior schools in Dibden Purlieu and Manor Church of England in Hardley.
Teams have been working to resolve the issue, a spokesperson said, adding: “We’re really sorry that customers in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Romsey and the New Forest are experiencing either low pressure or a loss of water supply.
“Our teams are onsite and working hard to fix the fault, however this is going to take time. ”
Affected postcodes are SO15, SO16, SO40, SO42, SO43, SO45, SO50, SO51, SO52, SO53.
Bottled water will be delivered to vulnerable customers on its priority services register, and bottled water stations are due to open shortly, the spokesperson added.
