Horrified teen has bicycle Christmas gift snatched in front of his eyes
A 15 YEAR-OLD boy watched in horror as a thief grabbed his £800 bike from a cycle rack at Christchurch railway station and rode off on it.
Isaac Page, from Lymington, said he had felt "uneasy" about a youth who had been waiting on the platform with him.
He said the teenager, who was aged about 16, suddenly snatched his bike and rode off under the archway leading from the station.
Isaac said: "It happened very quickly and all I could do was shout at the boy. There was no one else around on the platform when it happened.
"I was worried about him while we were waiting, he seemed to be acting suspiciously and kept looking at the bike.
"I felt uneasy and kept making sure he wasn't coming up behind me. I stayed close to the bike but then he just grabbed it and was off."
He had been waiting for the train to Brockenhurst when the incident happened on Sunday afternoon around 3.30pm.
He was left angry and upset about the loss of the black and electric blue Cube mountain bike which had been a Christmas present.
Isaac had been making his way back from a weekend staying a friend's beach hut on Mudeford spit. He had put his bike in the cycle rack on the station but had not locked it as he was waiting for the train.
He said the youth was wearing a blue Puma hoodie and dark jeans. He described him as being of slim build and about 16, although he could not clearly see his face as his hood was up.
Isaac reported the theft to British Transport Police who he believes have CCTV of the incident.
His mother Joanne has posted an appeal to find the bike on social media. She said: "It's been very upsetting, Isaac was so angry when he came home he could hardly speak. It was a Christmas present for him.
“I feel so sorry for him. We did get a message from someone who said they thought they had seen the bike thrown into bushes near The Sandpiper pub in Christchurch but we’ve been down to look for it and it is not there.”
She is appealing for anyone who might have information about the theft to get in touch with her on Facebook, or report it to British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or text 61016.
