Crews from Christchurch, New Milton, Springbourne and Redhill Park attended.

Four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used, along with an aerial ladder platform from Westbourne which helped firefighters remove flaming roof tiles.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire started after lightning struck the roof, and there was substantial damage.

"We did sheet the roof before we left to protect the property.”

There were no injuries, they added.
