Thieves tow away Brian James Motor Shuttle from unit at Christchurch Business Park on Radar Way
A RETIRED vintage vehicle restorer is devastated after thieves stole a distinctive trailer from his former unit in Christchurch.
CCTV footage from a neighbouring unit captured the moment the Brian James Motor Shuttle was towed away from Christchurch Business Park on Radar Way on the evening of Thursday 20th February.
The owner, who asked to remain anonymous, told the A&T a white Ford Transit van was shown entering at 5.56pm before leaving with the trailer at 6.07pm.
It was followed by a car a minute later, leading him to suspect its occupant cut the trailer’s wheel clamp before the van towed it away.
“It is a huge loss to us, both financially and personally and we urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has any information to come forward and help us recover it,” the owner said.
“The trailer was really useful. I was taking cars as far away as to car shows in Germany to promote my business.
“I paid £7,000 for it in 2007 and I think it could be easily worth that or more.”
He was surprised it was stolen as its size would make it difficult to hide; it can hold vehicles as large as a Ford Transit or Range Rover.
He also feared the thieves intended to use it to steal items such as quad bikes from sites including farms.
The trailer includes a 100-litre water tank fitted over the axles, and LED lights.
The owner believes the offenders turned left, towards the Hoburne roundabout before travelling up Roeshot Hill or the Christchurch bypass.
He added: “If anyone has any footage at around 6.10pm on Thursday 20th February it would be great as if we could get a registration number of the Transit van, we could possibly get a lead.”
A Dorset Police spokesperson said officers would investigate any new evidence that comes to light. But no arrests had been made.
