POLICE have released this image of a suspect they want to trace after a man was knocked out in an assault in a Christchurch street.

The victim, who was in his 30s, was struck by either a fist or bottle when he approached a man he believed was acting suspiciously in Lancer Close at around 9.45pm on Saturday 8th February.

As a result of the blow, he lost consciousness and suffered facial injuries. He had to be treated in hospital for concussion.

His attacker left the scene in a grey BMW, said Dorset Police.

Officers have released the picture now as they continue to investigate the incident nearly two months later.

They urged people to come forward if they can have any information to help track down the suspect.

PC Sam Watt said: “We have obtained an image of a man we would like to speak to as part of our enquiries and have made efforts to identify him but these have so far been unsuccessful.

“I am now releasing the image in the hope that someone might recognise him.”

Anyone with information should contact the Dorset force on 101, quoting crime reference number 55200020608, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
