A SEARCH is under way for the owner of a jetski last seen off the coast of Lymington after the craft was found abandoned in the eastern Solent yesterday evening.

Its killcord was unattached and a mobile phone was found onboard.

HM Coastguard is appealing for information about the owner of the white-and-burgundy craft, a Yamaha Waverunner which has a ‘201 Langstone Harbour’ sticker attached.

It was found adrift in the eastern Solent drifting towards Langstone Harbour.

Gosport independent lifeboat, Ryde Independent Rescue, Bembridge RNLI lifeboat, a coastguard helicopter, the Hillhead, Ventnor and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Teams and Calshot RNLI Lifeboat are currently searching the area.

“The coastguard would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw a single jetski on the water with one person on board between around 6pm and 8pm yesterday (August 4), specifically in the vicinity of Cowes, Ryde Middle, Lee-on-the-Solent or Stokes Bay,” HM Coastguard said.

“The jetskier is believed to have been wearing a camouflage jacket.”
