Hunt for witnesses after cyclist badly hurt in A31 collision with lorry
A CYCLIST suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a collision with a lorry on the A31 near Ringwood.
Police are now urging members of the public to come forward if they saw or have dash cam footage of the incident, which took place by the Ashley Heath roundabout around 8.10am last Friday.
Officers responded to the accident along with paramedics and fire crews, and the road was closed between Ringwood and the A338 junction for about three hours.
The injured cyclist, a man in his 30s from Wiltshire, was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.
The driver of the lorry was unhurt.
Insp. Joe Pardey, of Dorset Police’s traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to police to please get in touch.
“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who were travelling on the A31 and may have captured anything relevant on dash cam footage.”
He added: “Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience while the road closures were in place.
“These were absolutely necessary to allow for the safety of officers while dealing with the collision, treatment to be given to the injured person and an examination of the scene to be carried out.”
Anyone with information should contact the force on 101, quoting incident reference number 14:123, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
