Residents and businesses in Totton and Fawley to benefit from Giganet’s hyper-fast broadband
RESIDENTS and businesses in areas of Totton and Fawley are some of the first in the county to access hyper-fast internet service thanks to a £250m investment.
Broadband provider Giganet has completed installation of its new full fibre rollout in the first few areas locally as part of upgrades across the south.
Statistics show only around 50% of UK homes can currently benefit from full fibre connectivity.
Benefits include buffer-free 4K movie streaming, crystal-clear video chats, seamless multiplayer gaming and streamlined support for multiple devices simultaneously connected to the network.
The £250m project, which supports the government’s plans for 85% of UK premises to have access to gigabit-capable broadband by 2025, will also bring infrastructure to homes in areas which have so far not been reached by other major providers.
Giganet’s head of design network build, Tristan Tavernier, said: “It’s an exciting prospect that we’re now beginning to allow smaller communities to log on to hyper-fast broadband and not feel like they’ve been left behind.
“At every step we’ve tried to communicate disruption as best we can and follow our mantra of being honest and transparent. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but we’re firmly on track to meet our 2024 target.”
New eligible customers can save money on their annual broadband bill by getting their first three months free with Giganet.
