A CHRISTCHURCH woman whose body was found at Mudeford Quay on Christmas Eve had overdosed on painkillers, an inquest heard.

Sarah Moore (54) was discovered dead in the water close to the shoreline last year almost two weeks after being reported missing from her Fairmile Road home.

A hearing which opened at Bournemouth Coroner’s Court last Wednesday was told a post-mortem examination established the care home assistant died from immersion in water and codeine intoxication.

No date has yet been fixed for a full inquest.

As reported in the A&T, her daughter Fran Leach launched an online fundraiser in January for Dorset Search and Rescue to thank its team of volunteers for their efforts in looking for her mother.

At the time, Ms Leach said: “There is no doubt in my mind that absolutely everything possible was done to find my mum during this time.

“And for this reason we are asking for donations in her memory, so that Dorset Search and Rescue can continue helping families like ours by searching for their loved ones.”

The campaign was set up with a target of £750, but by the end of March 40 donations had helped it raise a total of £975.

People can still donate by visiting the JustGiving page.
