Ivy’s haircut raises £1,800 for Little Princess Trust
A FIVE year old from New Milton has raised more than £1,800 for the Little Princess Trust after undergoing a radical haircut.
After starting school in September, Ivy Sargeant decided she wanted to get her hair cut just like her new teacher’s style. Then inspired by a chat with her grandad Wilf Sargeant, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer, Ivy decided that she should use her haircut as an opportunity to raise money for The Little Princess Trust. As well as donating her hair, Ivy and her friends and family raised over £1,800.
The charity creates real hair wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer treatment and other medical conditions. It costs on average £700 to provide one wig to a child or young person, which includes the making, fitting and styling of the wig.
Ivy’s mum Katie said: “Ivy has never really had her hair cut over the last five years - just a trim to keep it tidy - so it was quite a big change for her.
“But she absolutely loves her new haircut and is so proud that after chatting to her granddad she was able to raise so much money for this amazing charity.”
