Neil Vare of New Milton is found guilty of harassing GBH victim
A NEW Milton man who was jailed for viciously attacking a woman has appeared in court again after harassing his victim.
As reported in the A&T, Neil Vare (48) of Franklin Road was sent down for two years in July after the attack during a party at his home in September 2021.
Southampton Crown Court heard how Vare punched the victim four times, leaving her with a deep laceration to her lip and bruising to her eye.
He denied he was responsible for the injuries but was found guilty of GBH after a trial.
Vare had also tried to sue her for loss of income due to his arrest, the court heard.
He was in front of the city’s magistrates’ court on 21st October when he pleaded guilty to one count of harassment without violence, which happened between 26th March and 19th October last year.
The court heard Vare had raised “unnecessary and unsubstantiated” concerns about his victim to social services, made county court claims which were “wholly without merit” and sent “threatening” texts and emails to her.
District judge Anthony Callaway handed him a four-month concurrent sentence.
