Tribute song You Left No Goodbye by Keyhaven friends Garry Eveleigh and Sarah Warwick racks up 32K views on YouTube

A MUSIC video and song recorded by Keyhaven friends Garry Eveleigh and Sarah Warwick has already been watched more than 32,000 times.

Dedicated to the memory of Garry’s older brother Terry, who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident at the age of 18, the song is called You Left No Goodbye. It was recently recorded by singer/songwriter Sarah, who had a number of chart hits in the 1990s.

Known as Sarah Washington during her pop music career, Sarah’s biggest hit was her cover of I Will Always Love You, which shot into the UK singles charts at number 12. She then went on to score a number one hit in the UK Club Music charts with her song Heaven. Sarah said: “I got to live out my lifelong dream of being on Top of the Pops, with my dad in the audience.”

Sarah moved out of London and settled in Keyhaven in 2019, where she got chatting to Garry after she noticed him picking plants whilst she was walking her dog. Garry later gave her a copy of his book Wildcook, which he created as a field guide to foraging from foreshores, hedgerows and forests.

Soon the pair were chatting about music and Garry revealed he had written some song lyrics about his brother Terry, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1963.

Garry said: “We were teenagers when my big brother was taken in a tragic accident. We had grown up together and were inseparable.

“In my grief I kept imagining that he would just walk back through the door – he never did.

“Many years later I had a strange, chance visit from an unknown, unannounced psychic medium – Terry had asked him to come to me and let me know that everything now was okay.”

Working with Garry’s lyrics Sarah wrote a medley for the song, which she then decided to record at Mill Farm Music in Dorset. She also asked her brother Daniel Warwick to record a video for the song, which they then uploaded to YouTube.

Sarah said: “I’ve been writing my own songs for years and years, but to have someone else’s lyrics, especially in this song about Terry, has been very inspiring for me.

“In a month the video has been viewed 16,000 times. It’s really speaking to a lot of people who have lost somebody.”

Since recording You Left No Goodbyes, the duo have worked on a number of other collaborations and are currently working on a children’s music project.
