Large tree branch falls across main road at Everton

A MOTORIST helped divert others away after a large tree branch came down across a stretch of main road at Everton.

The limb covered the entire width of Everton Road at the village end on Monday morning.

Marie Page, who was travelling to Milford, remained at the scene for about half an hour directing traffic away as Hampshire County Council was alerted.

An HCC spokesperson said: “On arrival at the site shortly afterwards, our highways team found that the tree branch had been removed and stored away from the road by a third party.

“Our arboriculturists will now assess the remaining part of the tree to ensure it is stable and, if any further action is needed, we will contact the landowner who is responsible for it and any others along Everton Road.”
