Letters: Can you help New Milton Stroke Group?
SIR – Since the start of the new year, the New Milton Stroke Group has been unexpectedly hit with the loss of three voluntary helpers, which is throwing a heavy burden on those still trying to cope.
Whilst we are always in need of funding, this present problem has put us in a somewhat desperate situation, so this is an urgent call for volunteers to come forward in order that we can maintain our much-needed, much-valued service.
We will be so grateful for some assistance.
The group meets every Thursday at the Nedderman Centre in New Milton, providing morning coffee, a light lunch and afternoon tea in a purely social environment.
There are speakers, entertainment and local outings when helpers take part.
It should be appreciated that, in dealing with stroke members who have a range of dis-abilities, volunteers need to give a little more attention than just serve refreshments; a measure of understanding assistance is called for.
Volunteers don’t have to attend every meeting but are encouraged to be available on a fairly regular basis.
If any readers think they might be able to help, will they please contact our coordinator Anna Green on 614193 or annaobanana@hotmail.co.uk. Thank you.
