Letters: Carry on, Chris Packham - a supporter writes

SIR - I am sad to see that people would like to see Chris Packham gagged. Because it is the hunting, shooting and fishing brigade that he has most upset, I expect these are the most likely signatories.

I fail to see why an employee of the BBC, which as you say he is not in the strict sense of the term, should not have his say on any subject he fancies.

If I were a celebrity, which thank heavens I am not, I might use my then high profile to further things in which I strongly believe.

Much of what he has to say on local matters I agree with.

Perhaps the only subject on which he and I might differ is the supposed over-grazing of the Forest and the reason for my non-agreement is that I don't know how you decide what the right number of animals that should be allowed to graze is.

If I had the energy I might raise a counter-petition in his favour but as I have not I will just say: “Carry on Chris you have at least one supporter”.
