Letters: Feeding, petting - is it time for a pony #MeToo movement?

SIR - Recently, I heard a lady born and bred locally tell a child in her care: “No you can’t go and stroke the pony, just imagine how you would feel if you were out with your friends and some stranger came up and started pawing you.”

It brought to mind the many reports of women complaining about inappropriate behaviour by men in the 1960s.

What about the ponies who hang around car parks and other areas used by people hoping for tit-bits?

They seem to me to be like the ladies who hung around American bases in the 1940s hoping for chocolates or stockings.

A commoning couple who had tried to introduce children to ponies told me they were shocked by the lack of respect the children showed towards the ponies.

If ponies could use social media, there would be a ponies’ #metoo movement.
