Letters: Help! The New Forest is becoming a suburban park
Published: 01:00, 12 July 2019
SIR - Too many visitors are lighting disposable barbecues (some in the most dangerous of spots), tying swinging ropes to our beautiful trees and leaving them there, and cyclists cycling like maniacs through the New Forest without a care for man or beast.
There are also people feeding the ponies and foals - even putting children on their backs for photos, to say nothing of the rubbish being left behind.
It's time to get a grip on this - we are already on the way to a suburban park. What about introducing rangers on horseback to police the Forest?
More and more people we meet up there are becoming very disgruntled and fed up with the speed the Forest is being abused. Help!
