Letters: Little boy's jam jar donation to RNLI made me smile

SIR - A little boy around five years old came into the RNLI shop in Lymington, with his parents, proudly wearing an RNLI tee shirt, clutching a tiny jam pot, labelled RNLI and full of 5p coins.

He had been saving his pocket money for the RNLI, as it is one of his passions. I suggested that he might like to pop the coins into the boat collection box, which he did, one-by-one.

It was a joy to see his happy shining face as he left clutching the empty pot (to start again), along with a badge and RNLI booklet.

How wonderful that there are children like this. That little event made me happy for the rest of the day!
