Letters: Parking charges not the best solution
I FULLY sympathise with unease at the unsightly, widespread, long-term parking of motor homes along Barton and Keyhaven seafronts.
Surely, however, the imposition of charges is not the best solution.
Witness the adverse effect of the charges along the lane at Keyhaven, opposite the Gun, where locals are no longer able to enjoy a cup of tea or short walk without exorbitant charges, resulting in current under-use.
Why not simply introduce a two-hour restriction from 9am to 8pm and possibly a length limit overnight?

RE the subject of parking meters, I think that more thought should apply to where they are situated.
Keyhaven is an example of an area where local people will be penalised if meters are installed. There are often families visiting the area to take their children to the crabbing bridge where they have a lot of fun and maybe an ice cream.
Mobile homes take up valuable parking space restricting the amount of locals visiting and should be banned from parking in these areas. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place and it seems unfair that we have to pay to enjoy it.
