Letters: Please be aware and warned

AS a long-term resident of the area, I endeavour to support all services and businesses whenever I can.

My recent experience, however, has left me shaken and shocked.

I recently purchased two front tyres for my vehicle. So far so good. After a few days an unusual noise alerted me and I returned to the tyre premises and was horrified to learn that two nuts on the rear wheels were missing, and the rest were loose. These were replaced by using the nuts from the spare wheel and the rest tightened up.

Later I returned, seeking an explanation and/or an apology. Neither was forthcoming from the proprieter who insisted that this omission had not occurred on his premises and it must have been vandalised while being parked elsewhere. My car is always parked in designated car parks and every night securely locked in my garage!

Should we have to check all nuts on wheels before we leave such premises? Readers please be aware and warned.
